The Equipment Operator plays a crucial role in the effective execution of construction projects. The primary responsibility will be to operate and maintain a variety of equipment used for the installation of underground plumbing systems, ensuring all equipment is used safely and efficiently. Secondary responsibilities include assisting in installation, excavation and/or backfill as required. This role collaborates closely with field teams to ensure that all tasks are completed on schedule and to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain a variety of equipment used for the installation of underground plumbing systems, including but not limited to:
- Backhoe loader
- Excavator
- Skidsteer
- Compactor
- Ensure safe and efficient use of all equipment
- Load and unload equipment and materials
- Assist with PVC/CPVC pipe installation
- Maintain Daily Inspection Records
- Collaborate with field teams to complete tasks on schedule
- Adhere to safety protocols to minimize downtime and prevent accidents
- Maintain high standards of quality and safety in all operations
- Emergency leak response, if required.
- Assist in installation, excavation and/or backfill as required
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to operate safely with knowledge of benching/sloping requirements
- Proficient in operating one or multiple equipment
- Ability to interpret and follow technical manuals and safety guidelines
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness
- Capable of performing routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment
- Effective communication skills for coordination with team members
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in equipment operation preferred
- Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures
- Basic mechanical skills and ability to troubleshoot equipment issues
- OSHA 10-hour certification preferred
Travel Requirements:
- Anticipated 100% travel to project sites nationwide
- Ability to travel occasionally to attend meetings, trainings, and events
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to wear and utilize all required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time
- Bend, kneel, and crouch for extended periods
- Ability to perform repetitive movements
- Ability to move in and around confined and cluttered places and uneven areas
- Ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to and exceeding 50 pounds
- Adequate vision to perform all required tasks
- Work on ladders, scaffolding, and rooftops
- Comfortable with heights and able to climb and descend safely
- Strong sense of balance and spatial awareness
