Stellar J, a West Coast based, employee-owned General Contractor, is seeking an onsite Safety Manager for a project in Boardman, Oregon.
Primary Responsibilities Assess the effectiveness of safety program activities, policies, and procedures, and implement changes to improve.
- Provides periodic reports to management and staff.
- Manages safety inspection activities through staff and or hired firms.
- Conducts and supervises others conducting safety inspections.
- Ensures required inspection data is collected and submitted.
- Leads investigations of incidents, near misses, and complaints regarding unsafe or unhealthy working conditions or practices.
- Analyzes inspection and incident information to identify causes, trends, and develop preventive or corrective practices.
- Lead or participate in safety committees or other risk/safety related committees.
- Manages safety staff or outsourced resources to ensure implementation of safety program.
- Effectively lead/train employees and subcontractors towards attaining a zero-accident environment.
- Recommend improvement in processes, design, procedures, and operations to avoid/minimize hazard potential.
- Write Job Safety Analysis for scope of work on a project/review and update existing.
- Review and enforce Stellar J’s Health & Safety Program.
- Conduct daily jobsite inspections and document observations.
- Conduct safety training orientations for all new hires.
- Conduct regular employee safety training presentations.
- Receive continued education and training through ongoing safety developmental courses.
- Review and interpret technical information and advice management of requirements.
- Serve in management position with capacity to communicate and relate effectively.
- Requirements:
- Excavation, trenching and soil mechanics competent person
- Fall protection competent person
- CPR/AED/First aid certified
- Confined space competent person
- Strong background in OSHA compliance for construction
- Experience in accident/incident prevention, investigation, documentation, and reporting
- Experience in Job Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment
- Highly organized & self-motivated
- Manage multiple work activities with specific deadlines
- Communicate/conduct presentations effectively at all levels of organization in a professional manner
- Bend, squat, walk, and climb stairs/ladders as needed for site inspections
- Must have valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- MS Office (Word, Excel PowerPoint, Outlook) proficiency
- 3 Year of Construction Safety Experience
- 30-Hour OSHA certification
- OSHA Train the Trainer course completion preferred
- Forklift instructor
- Aerial/scissor lift instructor
- B.S. in Health & Safety preferred
- CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician)
- CPR/AED/First aid instructor
