Capital Markets Associate at Stellar Management

Stellar Management is searching for an energetic and motivated Debt and Equity Capital Markets Associate to join our dynamic and collaborative team. In this role, you will be a key player in executing debt financing structures for the company's ground-up development, acquisitions, and existing properties, providing essential financial analysis and modeling to lead the firm’s debt execution efforts.


As a Capital Markets Associate, you will be responsible for leading the loan marketing and closing process, as well as staying informed about local real estate financing market trends. You will collaborate with various teams within the firm, including Acquisitions, Asset Management, Leasing, Accounting, Property Management, and Development & Construction, and proactively review Stellar’s existing portfolio of loans and upcoming financing pipeline to recommend alternative strategies and capital market executions.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively establish and maintain relationships with lenders and equity providers
  • Manage end-to-end debt financing and re-financing processes for individual real estate assets
  • Oversee broker engagements and marketing efforts with potential lenders/capital partners
  • Build financing models to evaluate loan terms and financial covenants, analyze and negotiate term sheets, and commitment letters
  • Negotiate loan documents in coordination with outside counsel
  • Manage loan closings and hand-offs to Legal, Accounting, and Asset Management teams post-closing
  • Develop new and maintain existing relationships with Real Estate debt and equity capital providers and seek creative sources of capital
  • Coordinate due diligence with internal teams and external lenders and investors
  • Assist Investments team with new investment underwriting by providing debt and or equity financing assumptions, identifying lender sensitivities, setting timelines, and developing go-to-market strategies
  • Provide regular updates on all financing activities and strategies to the Executive team
  • Mentor new associates entering the capital markets division to assist with their training
  • Work closely with Principals to drive value through capital markets execution


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, real estate, or related discipline
  • 2 to 4 years of relevant experience, including direct experience with originating and managing commercial real estate loans
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and financial analysis skills
  • Strong grasp of underwriting and debt sizing of real estate investment metrics
  • Coachable and driven to succeed
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex analyses, investment theses, and growth stories to senior executives, investors, lenders, and other stakeholders
  • Demonstrated management and supervisory skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain trusted relationships with the lending and brokerage communities
  • Meticulous attention to detail and the high standards for accuracy, timeliness, and precision
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines, with competing priorities and minimal supervision
  • Critical thinker who loves taking the lead to solve complex problems
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint data visualization skills
  • Strong network of lender relationships (preferred)
