A controller is a senior-level financial manager who oversees the accounting and reporting functions of a company. A controller is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and compliance of the financial statements, as well as managing the budgeting, forecasting, and internal control processes. A controller also provides strategic financial guidance and analysis to the executive team and other stakeholders.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Preparing and reviewing the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports, in accordance with the generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and other regulatory standards.
- Coordinating and managing the external audit process, and ensuring compliance with the tax and legal requirements.
- Developing and maintaining the accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls, and ensuring their effectiveness and adherence.
- Managing the cash flow, treasury, and banking operations, and optimizing the working capital and capital structure.
- Supervising and mentoring the accounting staff, and ensuring their professional development and performance evaluation.
- Preparing and monitoring the annual budget and forecasts, and providing variance analysis and recommendations.
- Providing financial analysis and insights to support the strategic decision-making and planning of the executive team and other business units.
- Implementing and improving the financial systems, processes, and tools, and ensuring their integration and alignment.
- Staying updated on the accounting standards, industry trends, and best practices, and ensuring their adoption and implementation.
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:

- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, and ability to work effectively with the executive team, board of directors, auditors, and other stakeholders.

Education/Experience:
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. A master's degree or a professional certification, such as CPA, CMA, or CGMA, is preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
- Strong knowledge and expertise in GAAP, tax, audit, and internal control principles and practices.
- Proficient in using various accounting and financial software, such as QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics.
Travel Requirements:
- Ability to travel occasionally to attend meetings, trainings, and events.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time.
- Ability to use a computer, phone, printer, scanner, and other office equipment.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 25 pounds of files, documents, and materials.
