Position Summary:
Client is seeking a Lead Telecom Expense/IT Analyst to manage telecom financials and optimize telecom expenses, ensuring accuracy in budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and cost management. This role will work closely with our Telecom Expense Management (TEM) provider (Tangoe), external vendors, managed network services providers, and internal IT teams to monitor and manage telecom operations effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Telecom Expense Management:
Oversee and execute monthly financial activities, ensuring accuracy and timely posting of entries.
Compare actual financial results against budgeted figures, investigating significant variances.
Provide detailed financial reports and analysis for management decision-making.
Reconcile transactions, review expenses, and submit accruals at month-end.
Manage wireline and wireless telecom expenses, ensuring cost efficiency.
Investigate telecom usage charges, analyze invoices for errors, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and contract amendments.
Forecast monthly telecom expenses, tracking net new additions and disconnections.
Address telecom-related inquiries from service providers and business units.
Analyze reports for billing discrepancies, pricing inconsistencies, and cost-saving opportunities, documenting them in an issue tracker.
Operations & Process Improvement:
Maintain an up-to-date telecom inventory database (MACD: Move, Add, Change, Disconnection).
Oversee wireless order management and telecom contract compliance.
Monitor the performance of outsourced telecom service providers, identifying and addressing variances.
Lead RFP/RFQ processes for network services, vendor negotiations, and contract management.
Implement process improvements and perform audits to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.

Required Qualifications & Skills:
Technical Knowledge:
3 4 years of experience managing telecom financials and expenses.
Experience with Telecom Expense Management (TEM) solutions such as Tangoe.
Knowledge of wired and wireless expense management.
Understanding of data and voice networks, telephony infrastructure, and network terminology.
Proficiency with collaboration and office tools, including MS Office Suite, MS Project, and Visio.
Technical Knowledge:
3 4 years of experience managing telecom financials and expenses.
Experience with Telecom Expense Management (TEM) solutions such as Tangoe.
Knowledge of wired and wireless expense management.
Understanding of data and voice networks, telephony infrastructure, and network terminology.
Proficiency with collaboration and office tools, including MS Office Suite, MS Project, and Visio.
Experience & Competencies:
Strong background in technology cost management and service provider oversight.
Ability to navigate and work effectively in an outsourced IT environment.
Knowledge of ITIL, Six Sigma/LEAN, and ITSM best practices.
Experience with ServiceNow (highly desirable).
Familiarity with regulatory requirements (SOX, State, Federal, etc.).
Ability to analyze processes, identify inefficiencies, and drive improvements.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Self-driven, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
ITIL certification (preferred).
