This person is responsible for designing and overseeing the installation of structured cabling systems within buildings, ensuring compliance with industry standards by utilizing their expertise in telecommunications and network infrastructure, requiring them to hold an active RCDD certification
Job Description
Design and Planning:
Create detailed plans for cabling layouts, including cable pathways, termination points, and equipment rooms, considering building architecture and client requirements.
Site Surveys:
Conduct on-site inspections to assess existing infrastructure, identify potential challenges, and gather necessary data for design purposes.
System Selection:
Choose appropriate cabling types (copper, fiber optic) and components based on network bandwidth needs and project specifications.
Documentation:
Develop comprehensive documentation including cable diagrams, labeling schemes, and installation specifications.
Project Oversight:
Manage the installation process, ensuring adherence to design plans, industry standards, and quality control procedures.
Technical Support:
Provide technical guidance to installation crews and address any cabling related issues during implementation.
Compliance Assurance:
- Verify that all cabling installations meet relevant codes and standards like TIA/EIA guidelines.
- Maintenance and Troubleshooting: provide support for ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting of installed cabling systems.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- RCDD Certification: Must hold a current Registered Communications Distribution Designer certification from BICSI.
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of structured cabling systems, including copper and fiber optic cabling, network topologies, and data center design.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant industry standards, codes, and best practices.
Design Skills:
- Proficiency in using design software to create cable plans and layouts.
