RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage Projects In Progress
- Working from existing project plans, promote execution of tasks, reaching out to responsible parties as needed with reminders of tasks and deadlines
- Update project schedules in Gantter with task completion and reschedule info
- Maintain or delegate / oversee maintenance of project documentation including issues log, contact list, etc.
- Facilitate project status meetings to drive forward progress and identify next actions for issues, risks, and roadblocks
- Manage project issues list, and follow up on action items as needed
- Draft status reports; collect feedback as needed, and then finalize and send status reports
- Execute and update project communications plan
Agile Project Management
Manage stand-up meetings (virtual)Create, manage, and maintain Trello boardsFacilitate backlog grooming meetings, sprint planning sessions, sprint reviews, and sprint retrospectivesTeam Member Guidance
Help onboard new team members (employees, interns, and contractors) by educating them on project management methods and expectationsDelegate project management tasks to junior project management talent, including summer internsTeach, coach, and mentor junior project management talentProvide feedback to team members on time and task management, effective and efficient communication, and teamworkProject Definition and Planning
Participate in developing project charters for new initiatives and phases of initiativesParticipate in building work breakdown structures, assigning resources, estimating tasks, and sequencing tasksEnter project schedule information into project management software (Gantter) (or delegate / oversee this task)Collect feedback from leadership and team members, and refine project schedules as needed to meet project goalsParticipate in developing other planning documents as needed, e.g. project communications plan, risk management plan, etc.JOB INTERACTIONS
The Senior Project Manager collaborates with the Executive Director, Program Officer, other Origami Works Foundation team members, grantees, and partners.
SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES
The Senior Project Manager must demonstrate these attributes and capabilities :
PMP certificationA certification in Agile methodologyMust be a legitimate independent contractor with experience working on a 1099 basis with multiple clientsExperience using Microsoft Project or similar software, including task dependencies, estimates, and Gantt chartsPeople person - positive, encouraging, enthusiastic with excellent interpersonal skillsAble to effectively interact with team members at different experience levels, from interns experiencing their first job assignments to executives handling strategic-level responsibilitiesAbility to influence and motivate team members and stakeholders, including many from outside our organizationFlexibility and resourcefulness in solving problems, with sense of humor a plusTECHNOLOGIES TO BE EMPLOYED
