Key Responsibilities
- Lead municipal engineering projects, including design, planning, and construction of capital improvement projects and grant work.
- Prepare construction plans and specifications, public bid documents, cost estimates, and other essential project documents.
- Evaluate and resolve issues related to public works and municipal engineering.
- Manage construction projects to meet deadlines and stay within budget.
- Stay informed on state regulations and requirements impacting municipal engineering projects.
- Review land development ordinances and agency regulations to assess land development limitations.
- Perform site investigations and due diligence, including ordinance reviews and utility service research.
- Design stormwater management systems and ensure compliance with local and regional regulations.
- Oversee grading design, ensuring value engineering and site safety through proper design slopes.
- Design utility systems such as stormwater conveyance, sanitary sewer, and recreational facilities.
- Resolve vertical and horizontal utility conflicts, ensuring system integrity.
- Design and implement soil erosion and sediment control strategies, including best management practices and construction sequencing.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- At least 5 years of experience in municipal engineering and capital project design.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred.
- Proven experience in managing and supervising project teams, ensuring scope, schedule, quality, and budget adherence.
- Strong project tracking and oversight skills.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) certification is preferred.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding English for effective communication and understanding of project documents.
