Core Infrastructure Engineer / Data Center Engineer
Hybrid - Data Center/Office based
Salary Circa $100k
"We have grown quickly, and globally, and the senior technical teams are very busy. We need to fill an immediate vacancy for an individual who can assist in keeping all of our core systems running. They will be one of a global technical team and their primary role will be looking after our data centre environments.
We are a very dynamic company, and all members of the technical team are expected to help out where they are capable, and this may involve aspects of customer deployment or even customer site visits if the need arose.
The ideal candidate will possess a wide range of technical skills and experience, but will have an appetite for learning and a desire to improve themselves and our environment that they work in."
KEY RESPONSILBITIES AND TASKS:
Duties may include, but are not restricted to the following:
- Build and deployment of additional equipment into existing data centres
- Responding to tickets, troubleshooting issues
- Performance monitoring and troubleshooting
- Storage configuration and capacity management
- Network switches deployment and configuration
- Racking, cabling, Maintaining the Data center footprint
- Internet connectivity into the data center
- VLAN and IP subnet allocation
- Co-ordinating the installation of Data center deliveries and installations
- Working as part of team, mentoring and helping others where possible
- Working with other departments to deliver end to end solutions for our customers
- Occasionally providing assistance out of hours
- Develop and maintain internal documentation
KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

- Excellent attention to detail, with a desire to do a job correctly first time, every time.
- A balanced approach to risk, ensuring we get tasks complete, even under pressure, but without unnecessary risk to live service.
- A mature attitude to change, liaising with peers and forming robust backout plans before implementation.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; tactful, diplomatic and sympathetic when dealing with any customer problems and showing empathy with customer issues.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Proactive and forward-thinking approach.
- Confident with the ability to interact with members of all technical teams including team leaders, managers and directors.
- Experience in troubleshooting technical problems in a methodical manner arriving promptly at a solid conclusion.
- An eye for detail, preventing any tickets from breaching SLA’s and the tenacity to ensure others adhere to processes.
- A willingness to learn and not be afraid to get involved in unfamiliar areas of technology.
- Excellent time management / organisational skills; being able to work well in critical or high-pressure situations.
DESIRED TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE
Whilst we don’t expect you to be an expert in all areas, an interest and willingness to expand your technical knowledge in these areas is required. The successful candidate will already hold at least some experience in a few of the following areas (please indicate which)
- Technical problem troubleshooting
- Performance troubleshooting for compute, network or storage bottlenecks
- A solid grasp of IP and subnetting
- An understanding of ethernet, switching, cabling and patching.
- Experience in an environment where security and network protection are key
- Racking and cabling equipment in a data center neatly to a high standard
Installation, configuration or administration of:
- Windows Servers
- Linux Servers
- VMware ESX Servers
- Switches
- Firewalls
- SAN, NAS or DAS Raid Arrays
- Server hardware (Preferably HP Proliant series)
Salary : $100,000
