Pay Grade: Paraprofessional Level 3
Primary Purpose:
Provide assistance for students and their families to remove barriers in school readiness, success, and attendance. Work with students who are at-risk and in danger of dropping out of school. Provide students with information and act as a liaison to appropriate learning activities and experiences in academics to help fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Assist campus administration with home visits, implementing and following through on programs to keep students in school until they graduate or become productive working citizens.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school graduate (transcripts) or GED
NCLB Criteria (2 years of study at an institution of higher education; an Associate Degree or higher; or, can pass a formal paraprofessional assessment)
Special Knowledge/Skill:
Ability to work with students, staff, and parents
Ability to interpret data
Familiarity with issues related to students at-risk of dropping out of school
Awareness and ability to access community agencies and organizations
Ability to work as a member of a team
Strong organizational, communication (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills
Bilingual, preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Support
- Schedule and plan student meetings and workshops that address the needs of at-risk students.
- Serve as a liaison between the teacher and students to address individual student needs.
- Analyze, daily, weekly, and monthly attendance reports.
- Assume responsibility for notifying parents when students are at-risk of losing credit in a class because of attendance problems.
- Serve as a campus liaison with the extended day acceleration programs.
- Collect and analyze data pertaining to students in at-risk situations with specific emphasis on STARR scores, discipline referrals, absenteeism, grade level success, and early intervention possibilities.
- Assist campus administrators in tracking and/or recovering potential drop-outs as needed.

- Work with Attendance Office and Justice System to keep student in school
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Work as a team to further the mission of the district.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
