Position Overview: At STEM Prep, we believe that the very best schools are deeply and broadly tied to the communities they serve. The Managing Director of Family and Community Engagement is responsible for ensuring that our schools are making that aspiration a reality. The Managing Director of Family and Community Engagement is responsible for overseeing the lifecycle of a STEM Prep family. They will set a clear vision, not only for community outreach, student recruitment, and retention, but also the experience and engagement of individual families throughout their time at STEM Prep Academy. We aren’t looking for someone to simply increase our enrollment; we are looking for someone to lead us in creating and deepening community relationships in service of our families. Given the demographics of our student body, the most qualified candidates will also be bilingual and bring with them an established network in the Southeast Nashville community. The Managing Director of Family and Community Engagement will report to the Chief Operating Officer (COO).
\n- BS/BA from an accredited college/university
- Proficient in Spanish and English (required).
- 5 years of experience doing community engagement work.
- 3 years of management experience, including supervision of employees.
- Familiarity and expertise with Charter Schools and the greater Southeast Nashville & Davidson County community.
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).

- In partnership with the COO and the Executive Leadership team, develop and lead the Network's model and strategy for family and student engagement from recruitment through graduation.
- Design and lead both formal and informal trainings on deepening community partnerships and family communication, as well as other relevant all-staff professional developments.
- Manage the student enrollment/recruitment cycle and provide periodic data reports to the COO and the Executive Leadership team.
- Interface with STEM Prep families - both current and future – and STEM Prep Alumni. Ensure families feel supported and cared for through both wrap-around services and the development of strong, interpersonal relationships.
- Supervise and support the Recruitment Coordinator and Community Engagement Partnerships Coordinator.
- Develop recruitment strategies and design tracking and reporting mechanisms to ensure enrollment targets are met for both the MS and HS campuses.
- Develop and implement robust communication mechanisms both internally and externally with key stakeholders, including managing the institution’s social media presence and its website.
- Represent STEM Prep Academy while actively engaging in the surrounding community even if it includes varied evening or weekend hours. Deepen current community relationships and create new ones that are strategically aligned to STEM Prep Academy’s mission.
- Design and oversee a warm and thorough orientation season for new STEM Prep families, including summer orientation nights for each grade level in the network.
- Lead the STEM Prep Community Center; develop and foster programs, partnerships, and connections that make the STEM Prep Community Center a vital and vibrant resource center for families and community members.
- Become deeply familiar with all internal and external systems and processes related to the Network's and district’s enrollment protocol and policies. This includes the entry, evaluation, monitoring, and review of data.
- As an integral member of the broader STEM Prep Academy team, become a trusted, familiar and welcomed face in all spaces - from classrooms to leadership team meetings - by building strong relationships across all teams and embracing the institution’s diversity initiatives.
- Participate in various department meetings, bringing a collaborative and open spirit to the table.
