Position Overview :
We are looking for a dependable and responsible Crossing Guard to join our team and help ensure the safety of our students, staff, and families during arrival and dismissal times.
As a Crossing Guard, you will play a crucial role in managing crosswalks, directing pedestrian traffic, and maintaining a safe environment around our school campus.
Key Responsibilities :
- Student & Pedestrian Safety : Assist students and families with safely crossing streets near the school during designated times.
- Traffic Control : Direct vehicular traffic as needed to ensure smooth and safe pedestrian flow, especially in high-traffic areas.
- Communication : Maintain clear and courteous communication with students, parents, and drivers to reinforce safety rules and protocols.
- Weather Preparedness : Stand at designated crossing areas in various weather conditions, prepared with proper attire to stay comfortable and visible.
- Safety Equipment : Use and maintain provided safety equipment (e.g., vest, stop sign) and report any issues or safety concerns to school administration.
- Qualifications :
- Reliability : Strong commitment to punctuality and dependability, especially during morning and afternoon shifts.
- Communication Skills : Friendly and effective communication skills, particularly when engaging with young children and families.
- Physical Requirements : Ability to stand for extended periods and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Essential Physical Requirements :
- Occasional lifting, five (5) to fifty (50) pounds
- Ability to stand / walk for ninety (90) minutes
- Frequent bending, stooping, walking, standing, reaching, and sitting
Schedule :
Typical hours are Monday through Friday during school arrival and dismissal times. Specific hours will be confirmed upon hiring but generally range roughly from 7 : 00-8 : 30am and 2 : 30-3 : 30pm.
