Job Description

As a member of the Automation & Controls Engineering team, you will use customer specifications and electrical and pneumatics schematics to program and control the PLCs and HMIs for industrial machinery. The Controls Engineer will partner with other engineers in the department as well as the production and installation teams to meet quality and schedule expectations.

Job Description :

Work with electrical and mechanical engineers to interface with and install PLC and embedded control-based systems.
Validate the implementation of electrical and pneumatic devices to customer acceptance standards.
Calibration, testing and troubleshoot controls circuits, components, and instruments.
Develop and document new PLC control systems from concept to installation.
Troubleshoot process control issues, developing control solutions to improve outcomes.
Assist in the development of scope and strategy for automation projects.
Develop project requirements, preparing project specifications, cost estimates and justification.
Maintain configuration control of current PLC source code.
Develop technical documentation and standard operating procedures.
Provide remote or local technical support to the field technicians for all machine builds during the commissioning of equipment.

Qualifications :

BSEE or equivalent.

3 - 5 years of controls engineering experience.

Experience validating industrial machinery to customer acceptance standards.

Ability to program industrial machinery in at least one IEC 61131-3 programming language. Ladder or Structured Text preferred.

Familiarity with Rockwell or Siemens industrial automation systems.

Familiarity with servo and A / C motor systems including programming, troubleshooting, and tuning.

Ability to read electrical and pneumatic schematics and develop a program from scratch or make modifications to an existing program in line with schematic revisions.

Experience with PID control.

Interest in design, production, and troubleshooting of high-speed machinery.

Capable communicator who works well in a team environment.

Clear technical writing skills for machine operating instructions and controls documentation.

Interest in expanding skillset into robotics controls if necessary
