Responsibilities Of The Cloud Architect
As a Cloud Architect, you will be pivotal in migrating enterprise applications to Amazon AWS and providing ongoing support for these systems. This role requires in-depth knowledge of cloud architecture, cloud security, and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure the successful deployment and maintenance of cloud-based solutions.
The Cloud Architect Will
As a Cloud Architect, you will be pivotal in migrating enterprise applications to Amazon AWS and providing ongoing support for these systems. This role requires in-depth knowledge of cloud architecture, cloud security, and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure the successful deployment and maintenance of cloud-based solutions.
The Cloud Architect Will
- Collaborate with customers to understand their application environments, evaluate potential architectural changes, and develop cloud-native solutions that meet their needs.
- Prepare and submit detailed build and process documentation, working closely with both internal teams and external providers to facilitate application deployment and upgrades.
- Conduct troubleshooting and root cause analysis for customer application issues, including network, storage, operating system, and application-level challenges.
- Administer Amazon AWS portals for Army cloud customers, including user account management, resource configuration, and oversight of AWS enrollment.
- Develop, deploy, and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) to support the deployment and sustainment of customer enclaves.
- Provide on-call support for triaging and resolving after-hours production incidents, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
- Recommend improvements to security, scalability, manageability, and performance across a wide range of network, storage, and computer services and technologies.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3-5 years in cloud architecture or cloud security engineering.
- Strong proficiency in cloud technologies, particularly Amazon AWS, with certifications such as AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional), and AWS Certified DevOps Engineer (Professional) preferred.
- Experience with automation tools and scripting languages such as Ansible, Terraform, Python, PowerShell, Bash, Puppet, and Chef.
- Comprehensive understanding of network, storage, server, and application technologies.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across the entire technology stack.
- Working knowledge of DOD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) preferred.
- Experience with developing and maintaining RHEL images, particularly for SAP applications, is highly desirable.
- In-depth understanding of security frameworks, including NIST and CIS Security, as well as identity and access management, encryption, and network security best practices.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools such as GitLab and Jenkins.
- Familiarity with vulnerability scanning and remediation tools such as Nessus.
- CompTIA Security Certified
- AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or AWS Certified Solutions Architect
- Active Secret Security Clearance
