The primary functions of the Supported Living Specialist are to coach and provide the support necessary for people, with intellectual and developmental disabilities, to broaden their knowledge and make their own informed choices and decisions about the life they want to lead. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Strong communication skills
- Dependable and reliable
- Basic computer skills and be able to use all required software
- Ability to problem-solve and assist in decision-making, including during emergencies
- Maintain current status regarding assigned core competencies and other required certification acquisition within established schedule and timelines
- Meet the criteria to be an approved driver for STEP and have reliable transportation
- Work productively with individuals and other team members to develop relationships
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills and good customer service skills
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Accommodate alteration of scheduled hours or days off as necessary
- Function with minimal supervision and coaching within the responsibilities of the job description
- Perform repeated lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping and reaching, a minimum of 50 pounds
- Capacity to assist individuals with physical disabilities and other needs such as maneuvering a wheelchair, using adaptive equipment, accessing communication devices, hygiene, eating, etc.
- Capability to prevent or mitigate physical aggression directed towards self or others using redirection, gradual guidance, or other approved techniques
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 5 – 10 per week
Schedule:
- Day shift
- Evening shift
- Weekends as needed
