The Tag and Title Associate processes car deals, verify costs for the accounting department including the costs of reconditioning and equipment add-ons, and handles the legal transfer of documents for the Department of Motor Vehicles. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Duties/Responsibilities
- Processes all new and used vehicles for registration in the state in which they will be titled.
- Prepares tax and title documents.
- Submits all legal transfer paperwork to the Department of Motor Vehicles or processing company, when applicable.
- Communicates with customers, dealership personnel and tag/title agencies.
- Verifies funds are posted in the accounting records and that the correct lienholder was paid off before processing title applications.
- Checks for accuracy of the application and ensures all information is complete.
- Keeps Controller abreast of missing titles and provides status of title work as needed.
- Maintains a system to verify out-of-state titles.
- Manages yearly renewal of dealer tags.
- Stays abreast of title regulations.
- Maintains a professional appearance and a neat work area.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Must have the ability to sit for long hours while working from a desktop computer, accounting calculator, accounting software, ledgers, and more.
- Must have ample dexterity to bend, reach, stretch, sit, stand, type, and lift to 30 pounds.
Education and Experience
- Two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Automotive Dealership experience is preferred.
- Must be able to pass a background check, drug screening, and Motor Vehicle Report.
