SUMMARY: The Clinical Supervisor is a member of the Clinical Training and Development Team and will provide individual and group supervision to direct service staff, review and ensure chart compliance for assigned contracts, and support the clinical compliance of all SUOS public
and private grants and programs. This position will work closely with the Director of Clinical Training and Development to ensure staff receive adequate and appropriate clinical training and supervision relevant to their specific job duties.
DUTIES: The following reflects essential functions for this job but does not restrict other tasks, which may be assigned:
Clinical Training and Development Support
Provide assigned supervises with consultation and resources regarding participants or other matters related to the delivery of services, which will allow staff members to perform their specific tasks effectively.- Provide weekly individual supervision and group supervision to master level staff, as

- Attend team meetings for programs in which supervision is provided and participate in
- Collaborate and meet regularly with Clinical Directors and Program Managers to support
- Assist Director of Clinical Training and Development in design and implementation of training curriculum, including onboarding and orientation activities.
Administrative Support
Maintain up to date knowledge of BBS (or other board) licensing requirements and disseminate information to relevant staff.- Track individual and group supervision attendance and maintain necessary
documentation for each session, according to specific contract, agency, and BBS (if applicable) standards.
- Execute additional specific tasks related to assigned contract(s).
Quality Assurance
- Support Director of Quality Assurance and Program Managers with oversight of the clinical and technical accuracy of the clinical records, which may include staff trainings.
- Perform chart review at regular intervals and other applicable QA activities as needed to ensure the treatment provided is consistent with the SUOS philosophy and meets the current standard for quality of care, medical necessity and other requirements as defined by each funder.
SKILLS: Intermediate skill set and knowledge of Microsoft Office 2003 suite (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint), as well as navigation of Electronic Health Record. This position requires the ability to identify problems, patterns, and make the required corrections as well as reporting information as required. This position requires excellent detail orientation and ability to multi task on multiple ongoing and time sensitive projects/duties.
QUALIFICATIONS: Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California and registered with BBS, with at least 2 years post licensure and clinical supervision experience. Knowledge of and expertise in clinical quality assurance, clinical charting methods and clinical best practices.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: Supervision is designed to develop and build on skills of the participating staff members and address client care. The nature of the position involves access to confidential information and requires an atmosphere of safety and trust. Supervisors must adhere to professional ethics within these relationships and follow all guidelines outlined in Step Up's Clinical Supervision Agreement.
Work with people experiencing homelessness whether on the streets, in shelters or other places of habitation or services, may present inherent challenges and difficulties such as: exposure to bed bugs or other infestations, unpleasant smells or odors, individuals who may have poor hygiene or unclean homes due to homelessness, mental health symptoms, or poverty. Additionally, in working with our members, employees may encounter instances of profanity, sexually explicit or derogatory language, or verbal or physical expressions of anger and trauma. Very rarely do these situations ever escalate to physical contact, and negative or derogatory communication patterns can often be negotiated successfully. All direct care staff are provided adequate training to develop skills to deescalate crisis situations that may arise and Step Up has established procedural safeguards for all employees to mitigate (but not eliminate) these inherent risks of employment.
