The Desktop Support Engineer will work as part of a small team at a fast paced, high-energy environment supporting both the Northbrook IL and Northfield IL locations. Looking for a super-sharp, fast learner who has strong interest in Systems, Networking and Desktop support. Must have experience working in both a manufacturing environment and office environments to support IT applications; deployment and maintenance of end user devices and other business technologies, while meeting the timeline needs of the business. This position is based in Northbrook IL.

The Desktop Support Engineer will work as part of a small team at a fast paced, high-energy environment supporting both the Northbrook IL and Northfield IL locations. Must have experience working in both a manufacturing environment and office environments to support IT applications; deployment and maintenance of end user devices and other business technologies, while meeting the timeline needs of the business. This position is based in Northbrook IL.
Responsibilities: Provide user support as part of a team, including but not limited to:
- Rapid response and resolution of support requests by STEPAN employees as it regards to Windows workstations and laptops, network connectivity, VPN, email, and other technologies.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues as reported by STEPAN employees.
- Coordinate resources across IT during high severity issues.
- Provide training materials and any additional information to STEPAN employees to help increase overall productivity.
- Contribute to the technical document library and develop procedures and knowledge articles for new issues or configurations in ServiceNow.
- Track all activities through ServiceNow.
- Provide project-base contribution support to the department, including but not limited to:
- Testing and deployment of new systems.
- Testing and deployment of new procedures.
- Creating technical documentation.
- Install IT assets as needed, including desktop, laptops, monitors, printers, etc.
- Active Directory administration including Azure AD.
- Assist users via multiple modes of communication utilizing remote desktop and other technologies as well as deskside support.
- Accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to follow through essential.
- Ability to organize, prioritize and follow through on simultaneous tasks with minimal supervision.
- Ability to interact effectively with other departments within the STEPAN as well as outside agencies (i.e., vendors).
- Ability to conduct small projects and deployments without direct supervision.
- Ability to conduct business in a professional manner.
- Positive outlook and tone always both internal to STEPAN Employees and to broader User Base as well.
- Customer Service, communication and patience is of paramount importance regarding meeting timelines, dates, and key priorities.
- Drive solutions through to completion and manage expectation to avoid conflict or potential issues.
- Experience with Virtualization technologies, such as Hyper V, WVD, VMWare
- Respond to after-hours requests and escalate when needed
- Minimum 1-3 years of experience (3-5 years preferred) working hands-on in a fast-paced IT environment.
- At least one Microsoft Certification (MCP, MCTS, MCDST) preferred.
- Hands-on experience supporting Microsoft cloud-based back-office systems including Azure AD, OneDrive, Security & Compliance, InTune/Endpoint Manager, AutoPilot, Teams
- Ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
- Experience providing IT Support in chemicals, pharmaceutical, or manufacturing environment both indoors and outdoors strongly preferred.
- Must work onsite at multiple geographic locations within Illinois (Primarily Northbrook, IL and Northfield, IL)
- Must be willing and able to work flexible hours, and be "on-call" after hours, on demand
- Must be willing and able to accept new tasks as assigned
- Must have a friendly and supportive attitude, strong work ethic, and team-player mindset
- Experience triaging IT related issues in person or over the phone
- Frequent deadline pressures that should be met under any circumstance.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, similar technical degree, and/or equivalent experience preferred

Salary : $53,000 - $77,000
