What are the responsibilities and job description for the Product Development Technician position at Stepan Company?
- Help solve problems and make projects successful.
- Participate in department workgroup; contribute ideas and suggestions for improving department infrastructure and work
- processes.
- Actively participate in safety/waste programs and steadfastly adheres to safety policies/standards.
- Keep an organized, up-to-date electronic laboratory notebook and other documentation, such as technical reports.
- Maintain project tracker records. Communicate project results (internally to supervisor, project leader, requester, etc) via timely verbal updates, emails as well as timely, well written correspondence and project reports.
- Work in both a team environment and independently.
- Order/communicate supply and chemical needs.
- Grow technical knowledge in new formulation ingredient chemistry.
- 0-1 year experience; Must have experience working in a laboratory environment
- Must practice safe laboratory procedures. Uses proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when working in the lab (safety glasses, gloves, lab coat with long sleeves, no heels or large jewelry, etc.).
- Must have a desire to work in a laboratory based role as a bench chemist.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
- Must have an attention to detail and possess good organization skills.
- Must be proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.
- Must be able to work in Northfield, IL laboratory.
- Must be able to sit, stand, communicate by phone/email, and use a PC for extended periods of time. Must also be able to safely use a foot stool to reach jars/containers in tall cabinets.
- B.S. Degree in Chemistry or related field
