Stepan is seeking a Senior Regulatory Scientist to join our Global Regulatory team in Northbrook, IL. In this role, you will report to the Senior Toxicologist. You will join a dynamic regulatory team responsible for managing regulatory and product safety matters related to Stepan’s portfolio of surfactants, polymers, and other specialty ingredients. The Senior Regulatory Scientist will be responsible for supporting both toxicology and registration efforts for Stepan’s product portfolio. The position requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a high degree of professionalism.

The Senior Regulatory Scientist will be responsible for supporting both toxicology and registration efforts for Stepan’s product portfolio. Toxicology
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop human health safety evaluations (hazard and risk) and guide multi-disciplinary project teams on toxicological elements impacting products.
- Assign GHS hazard classifications to Stepan products for utilization by the hazard communication team in their development of safety data sheets and labels.
- Serve as subject matter expert in toxicology including interpreting results of in vivo, in vitro, and other toxicity studies to assess the safety of company products and to meet regulatory requirements.
- Support Stepan’s Sustainability efforts
- Support new product development process including review of regulatory notification/registration requirements.
- Track global and country-level product notification/registration requirements including: US EPA TSCA, Global Agricultural Inert Registrations (i.e. US EPA FIFRA, Canada PMRA), and FDA Indirect Food Contact Clearances.
- Prepare and submit application packages for chemical product notification/registrations globally. Communicate with consultants and regulatory agencies as needed.
- Liaison with business, supply chain, R&D and customers during the product development process
- Participate in government, trade associations and industry task forces to support company and industry interest.
- Must have 2 - 5 years of experience in US regulations and standards, experience in preparing government submissions.
- Must have experience in chemical industry.
- Ability to interact effectively with business leaders, government agencies and trade associations.
- Knowledge of US EPA Sustainable Futures modeling tools beneficial but not required.
- Knowledge of SAP beneficial but not required.
- Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Strong competency in project management, negotiation and communication.
- Strong business acumen, problem solving and decision making skills and ability to manage through systems.
- Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Toxicology, Biology or other related science required. Master's preferred.

Salary : $75,000 - $109,000
