This is a student position responsible for providing a disability service to support the department in providing equal opportunities in higher education to qualified students with disabilities.
Job Duties
1. Provides assigned disability services to support the mission of the department.
2. Performs work within department and university guidelines, policies, and procedures.
3. Works assigned scheduled to meet department needs.
4. May work at varying locations across campus.
Duties include:
Reading textbooks into audio format or directly to student with a disability; reading for exams and marking answer sheet. May be assigned as lab scribe, assisting in laboratory environment; or assigned as homework scribe; work is performed independently under the supervision of Disability Services. Strong oral reader with good command of the English language; well developed verbal skills and vocabulary; ability to read standardized paragraph at screening.

The minimum education required for admittance as a student at Stephen F. Austin State University.
No direct experience is required. Training and instruction will be provided.
Preferred Qualifications Physical Demands Special Conditions for Eligibility

A student must be enrolled in six or more semester hours to be eligible for student employment during the fall or spring semesters. To be eligible for student employment during the summer, a student must be enrolled in three or more semester hours or be registered for courses in the upcoming fall semester.
Student assistants may not hold any other type of position such as a graduate assistantship or temporary casual employment at the same time that they are employed as a student assistant.
