Primary Purpose: The Director of Diversity and Engagement is responsible for creating and leading programs that promote a welcoming and respectful environment for all students, staff, and community members. This role will work collaboratively with school leadership, teachers, and other staff to foster diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives that support the school’s mission and the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur Hallmarks.

 

Essential Functions

Recruitment & Admissions:

  • Help recruit students through school fairs, community events, and education-focused presentations (e.g., St. Julie’s Education Day).
  • Develop Spanish application and enrollment packets.
  • Assist parents with the enrollment process and EdChoice applications.
  • Encourage attendance at admissions events, such as Latino Ramformation Night.
  • Conduct LinkedIn searches, post job openings, and attend regional career fairs to attract diverse candidates.

Community & Student Engagement:

  • Actively participate in community events to build relationships and foster engagement. (e.g., Juneteenth, Hamilton/Fairfield Hispanic Festival)
  • Support the service programs, D.I.G club. 
  • Lead student organizations such as UNIDOS, Our Voice, A.M.E.., ensuring students have a space to discuss issues and engage in cultural representation.
  • Address and support students who experience discrimination or bias.
  • Assist teachers in organizing diverse guest speakers, field trips, and classroom discussions on cultural awareness.

Communication & Reporting:

  • Translate individual emails, letters, and the Badin Blast for Spanish-speaking families.
  • Manage the Hispanic Families Facebook Group (La Familia Latina de Badin) and organize translators for events.
  • Track Spanish-speaking families and diversity data for students and staff.


Staff & Professional Development:

  • Organize training and workshops on cultural competence, bias awareness, and inclusive practices.
  • Promote school-wide awareness of diversity issues and encourage open dialogue among students and staff.

General Support:

  • Attend and support Advancement Office events.
  • Collaborate with various departments to foster inclusivity and community engagement.
  • Work closely with administration to develop initiatives that promote a diverse and welcoming school environment.


Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four-year college or university, or one to two years’ related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

 

Required Skills:

  1. Fluent Spanish – Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish, both written and oral, to support Spanish-speaking, families, and community members.
  2. Interpersonal Skills – Strong ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally, while building rapport with students, parents, and colleagues. Demonstrates respect for diversity, listens attentively, and fosters a welcoming environment.
  3. Planning and Organizing – Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy. Understands the EdChoice Scholarship program, application process, and AOC/OHSAA recruiting guidelines.
  4. Customer Focus – Builds trust and credibility with all stakeholders, ensuring a welcoming experience for prospective families, particularly Spanish-speaking families.
  5. Flexibility – Adapts to changing priorities, schedules, and responsibilities while maintaining professionalism and efficiency.
  6. Self-Management – Works independently, prioritizes tasks effectively, and follows through on commitments without direct supervision.
  7. Technology – Proficient in Google Suite, admissions software, social media platforms, and tracking/reporting tools. Ability to translate communications and manage online engagement with Hispanic families.
  8. Outreach & Community Engagement – Participates in community events, school fairs, and job fairs to increase visibility and engagement. Encourages parental involvement in school activities and admissions events.

  • Ability to work occasional long hours, events and weekends.
  • Detail oriented - maintaining accurate records, meeting deadlines, providing follow-up to questions

 

Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no direct reports.
