To serve as shop foreperson for all performance department productions for The Conservatory for the Performing Arts at Stephens College. Manages the scene shop which includes the construction of all scenic elements. Also responsible for following all safety procedures and problem solving any issues that may arise in the technical areas.

Responsibilities
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Manage the daily operation of the scene shop
- Assist with construction, load-in and strike of all theatre productions
- Order and maintain supplies
- Responsible for general and basic maintenance of scene shop
- Works in concert with the Technical Director and resident Scenic designer with all scene shop assignments and scheduling.
- Acts as head of scene shop, coordinating construction schedules to meet production deadlines; guides, organizes and supervises the student workers and scene shop techs to meet deadlines set by production staff; secures approval from directors and designers for changes in the construction, assembly, and setting of stage materials and purchases materials for sets construction; coordinates with outside vendors; reads blueprints and creates scale-working drawings of set designs, and other duties as assigned by the Technical Director or resident Scene Designer.
Education/Skill Requirements:
- 3-4 years of college
- 1-2 years of experience
- Daily work with faculty, staff, students, supervisor.
- Reports To: Technical Director
- Report unsafe working conditions and behavior.
- Take reasonable and prudent actions to prevent others from engaging in unsafe practices.
- Errors may cause delays in a particular department or phase of work or result in losses in expenditure or working time.
- Routine work is performed independently, non-routine issues or questions are referred to the supervisor.
- This position requires frequent reaching/handling, stooping/kneeling, pushing/pulling, lifting/carrying, and climbing/balancing.
- This position requires exposure to saw dust, paint, and machinery noise. Masks, goggles, and earplugs are provided.
