Stephens Memorial Hospital is seeking 1 Full Time Environmental Services Tech to work in the Environmental Services Department.
Position Summary: Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing designated areas within the Stephens Memorial Hospital campus. Replenishes supplies in all areas of the hospital, maintains floor care in the hospital/clinics and collects and distributes linens. Areas must meet the highest quality standard for cleanliness and infection control.
Essential Duties:
- Performs routine cleaning of patient rooms, nursing stations, offices, clinical areas, waiting rooms, rest rooms and corridors in a neat and sanitary manner.
- Dust-mops floors, removes trash, fully cleans restrooms and dusts. Damp mops floors and/or vacuums carpeting. Cleans floors with mops, vacuums, buffers and germicide solution; removes spots and spillage. Cleans furniture with approved germicidal solution and polish. Cleans walls by removing dust, including high dusting, spot washing and washing entire wall as assigned. Cleans interior windows. May dust screens and clean televisions. Replenishes supplies.
- Maintains equipment properly and safely; uses supplies and materials as directed. Stores items correctly.
- Observes and practices standard precautions and hospital established safety regulations and procedures. Reports hazards.
- Follows all infection control practices including proper hand washing techniques, standard precautions and isolation precautions.
- Transports regular and bio-hazardous waste to designated area.
- Maintains patient confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA.
- Always introduces self to patients, families, and visitors when entering a patient room and acknowledges others in other areas of the campus.
- Assists visitors with directions whenever requested.
- Must be able to work weekends, holidays, all shifts and have open availability.
- Complies with department Quality Control measures and makes corrections to work quality quickly.
- Participates in performance improvement activities.
- Encourages an atmosphere of optimism, warmth and interest. Implements AIDET philosophy.
- Other duties as assigned.
Non-Essential Duties:
- Changes cubicle curtains as needed.
- Periodically participates in meeting room set-ups for events, setting up tables, chairs and various items.
Education / Experience Required:
Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
