Position Overview:
The Camp Counselor is responsible for working closely with year-round Museum Educators to provide engaging in-person camp experiences at the museum to children ages 5-10 between the hours of 9:00am-5:00pm M-F (30-40 hours a week). The Camp Counselor must be available to work from June 2 until August 15 and must have a passion for working with children and supporting their learning and development.
Position Responsibilities:
- Assists Museum Educators in facilitating hands-on workshops on the weekly STEAM related subject.
- Responsible for assisting with whole group experiences and for managing smaller groups of up to 9 children during daily workshops, museum exploration, outdoor and indoor play, snack, lunch, story time, games, and field trips.
- Responsible for the health, safety, and well-being of the children through behavioral management and basic first aid.
- Assists with preparation of materials and clean-up.
- Observes the daily schedule and demonstrates punctuality.
- Other duties as needed.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Minimum of 2 years of summer camp experience or other experience working with groups of children.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPR/first aid certification
