Overview:
STEPS Talent is seeking a highly skilled OT Network Security Engineer with proven experience in industrial environments. This role focuses on securing and segmenting operational technology (OT) network infrastructure across manufacturing, refining, and energy sectors. Candidates must bring a safety-first mindset and the ability to navigate complex OT systems without compromising process integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement Layer 2/3 network infrastructure in OT environments (TCP/IP, routing, switching).
- Configure and manage Cisco and/or Palo Alto firewalls in segmented architectures.
- Lead network segmentation projects for process control systems.
- Collaborate with plant engineers, operations, and cybersecurity teams to ensure secure, compliant environments.
- Travel to industrial sites (~20%) for implementation and post-deployment support.
Must-Have Skills & Experience:
- Deep expertise in TCP/IP networking, Layer 2/3 routing and switching.
- Proficiency with Cisco and/or Palo Alto firewall platforms.
- Hands-on experience supporting industrial control systems (SCADA, PLCs, DCS) in plant or refinery environments.
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity practices specific to OT/ICS environments.
- Proven success implementing network segmentation in low-maturity industrial settings.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience in environments with legacy or greenfield OT systems.
- Familiarity with standards like NIST, ISA/IEC 62443, or other risk frameworks.
- Understanding of remote access security in industrial settings.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with engineers, IT, and cybersecurity teams.
