Position Summary
The Culinary Assistant performs a variety of duties in support of the dietary needs of the clients in a residential treatment setting. This position assists with food preparation, ensuring clients dietary needs are met throughout the treatment period. Regularly performs tasks related to culinary services to include food preparation, food preparation area cleanliness, and safe food handling processes.
Relationships and Contacts
Within the organization: Establish and maintain productive working relationships with peers and accounting team members throughout STR Cedar Creek and affiliated facilities.
Outside the organization: Establish and maintain productive working relationships with third party vendors, as necessary.
Position Responsibilities
- Assists in preparing healthy, flavorful menu options for clients in treatment.
- Maintains a clean, safe and organized kitchen.
- Monitors and records daily temperature logs for refrigerators and freezers.
- Ensures high quality food and beverages are provided to clients in timely manner.
- Serves meals and snacks to clients with attention to allergies and dietary needs.
- Provides food for clients when scheduled and as requested.
- Maintains all kitchen equipment and in an orderly, safe and sanitary manner.
- Supports the proper rotation of food items to prevent unnecessary spoilage.
- Maintains a pleasant and professional demeanor when interacting with clients.
- Maintains a working knowledge and practice of state and local food safety standards.
- Any other duties as assigned or deemed necessary by the Executive Chef.
Education and Experience
Position requires a High School diploma or GED/equivalent and 1 or more years of prior food service experience. ServSafe Certificate required.
Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to communicate with peers/general public, clients and/or vendors.
- Tolerant to various noise levels: noise level in the work environment varies may be very quiet to moderate.
- Job performance will require the ability to move throughout the building as well as sit or remain stationary for extended periods of time.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to talk or hear, sit, stand, walk, reach, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
