Position Summary

By utilizing key leadership principles of respect, humility, and leading by example, the Operations Team Leader will provide leadership and oversight to front line employees in support of meeting Customers’ needs and continuous improvement. The Team Lead is responsible for supporting daily production activities, coordinating the production plan/maintain cell flow, to ensure that products are produced and delivered in accordance with Customer requirements, while complying with applicable company, and regulatory standards. The Team Lead trains and coaches production employees in alignment with the company’s Vision and Values and in compliance to standard work.


Shifts: 7:00am-4:30pm Monday-Thursday and 7:00am-11:00am Friday

Duties

  • Responds to production needs and requests with a sense of urgency and aligns activities, focusing on the needs and requirements of the Customer
  • Responds immediately to abnormalities through identifying, documenting, and segregating nonconforming material
  • Provides creative solutions to issues or problems by utilizing the problem-solving process and escalates when additional support is needed to identify root cause and implement effective countermeasures
  • Promotes quality conscious leadership through proper adherence to quality system procedures, Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
  • Facilitates a safety culture through; performing safety audits to ensure proper use and condition of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), machines, and safeguards, training of individuals on procedures and expectations, and participating in investigations of near misses/incidents
  • Provides daily coaching of team members on job duties and in understanding the "why" behind Lean principles and tools
  • Recognizes performance of team members on a regular and frequent basis and provides input to supervisor for performance management and conflict resolution process for employees
  • Coordinates attainment of daily/weekly production plan through; allocation of personnel to work assignments, ensuring required material is available, coordinating/prioritizing required support services and leading start-ups/changeovers for the cell
  • Maintains flow and efficiency of the cell by providing coverage during team member absences
  • Facilitates sharing of best practices among team members
  • Interfaces with team members in supporting departments and roles to keep lines of communication open to resolve issues
  • Achieves Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost (SQDC) objectives of the Cell through; training to, auditing of, and improvements to standard work and implementing daily kaizen activities
  • Tracks and communicates performance metrics and escalates needs by updating, presenting and publishing at SQDC board meetings with management team and daily standard reports (daily production, material requirements, etc)
  • Monitors process flow; identifying solutions for flow interrupters and responding to and on signals as necessary and takes appropriate action

Education Degree

  • High School Diploma or GED

Required Experience

  • One (1) year of leadership experience preferred. Could include involvement in projects or daily work activities
  • Two (2) years of experience working in a lean environment, preferred
  • Five- Seven (5-7) years of related manufacturing or distribution center (whichever is applicable) experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and drive results in a fast-paced environment and multiple priorities
  • Demonstrated leadership skills including, taking initiative, initiating change, promoting teamwork, championing ideas, taking appropriate risks, translating ideas into specific tasks, gaining confidence and trust of others
  • Must be a clear, concise communicator who is able to clearly express opinions and ideas while maintaining trust and credibility
  • Ability to effectively gather facts, processes information to identify and define the problem, make timely decisions and provide creative and innovative approaches to problem expectations
  • Ability to carry out detailed written or oral instructions
  • Ability to deal with problems involving part and equipment variation while maintaining quality expectations
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot problems and demonstrate good decision making
  • Detail oriented with ability to identify items against specifications
  • A responsible self-starter, someone who is proactive and who exemplifies a positive attitude
  • Demonstrated high level of performance, professionalism, confidentiality and integrity
  • Willingness to work overtime as required
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office applications
  • Hands on experienice with MRP systems environment preferred
