What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dozer Operator position at Sterling Construction, Inc.?
Responsibilities
- Fasten attachments to the tractor with clevis or wedge pin hitches.
- Connect hydraulic hoses, belts, mechanical linkage, or power takeoff shaft to the tractor to provide power to raise, lower, or tilt attachments.
- Move levers to control tool bars, carriers, and disks.
- Move hand and foot levers to control hydraulic shovel.
- Use shovel to dig trenches and holes of specified length, depth, and width, remove loosened material, and put in piles or transport trucks.
- Maneuver equipment by moving levers and depressing pedals to raise, lower, and tilt attachments to clear right-of-way.
- Estimate depth of cut by feeling lever and listening for stalling action of engine.
- Drive bulldozer in successive passes over terrain to raise or lower terrain to specified grade following markings on grade stakes or hand signals.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment, such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in heavy equipment operation (Required)
- Possess a valid Driver's License
- Ability to pass a background check
- High School Diploma or GED (preferred)
