Job Summary:
The Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing product design, performance, project scheduling, and ensuring that customer requirements and delivery expectations are met. This role also provides shop floor support for both internal and external stakeholders. Additionally, the Engineering Manager manages engineering standards, technical content, and systems, while driving continuous product improvements and cost optimization.
Job Duties:
- Collaborate with project management, sales, and accounting teams to define product scope and assist in estimating new projects.
- Lead the oversight of innovative product designs, ensuring technical excellence and continuous improvement.
- Provide leadership in technical problem-solving and engineering decision-making.
- Develop, manage, and update engineering KPIs, including maintaining performance tracking tools.
- Conduct cost-to-complete (CTC) exercises for assigned projects and assist with project estimating.
- Oversee engineering resource planning and scheduling, integrating inputs into production systems.
- Ensure projects are completed within or below estimated cost targets.
- Support and uphold quality management systems.
- Mentor and develop the engineering team through formal training and professional development initiatives.
- Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and internal teams throughout all project phases.
- Travel domestically and internationally as needed for site visits and vendor assessments.
- Work with vendors to enhance product quality, improve delivery, and drive cost reductions.
- Apply Lean tools to facilitate product and process improvements.
- Foster leadership development and succession planning within the engineering team.
- Develop and execute department strategic plans and annual budgets.
- Track and analyze department performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
- Support manufacturing engineering initiatives, including capital improvement projects.
Qualifications:
- BSME preferred
- Management experience in a heavy equipment environment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to drive creative and unique engineering solutions
- Able to work to deadlines
- Work effectively as team leader
- Ability to facilitate and make decisions
- Knowledge of FMEA, Lean practices, and Value Engineering
- Detail oriented
- Self-motivated
- Must maintain a valid passport
