Job Summary:
May work independently or with a helper to gather detailed information on utility poles, electrical distribution and telecommunication lines, pole attachments, wire heights and any other information necessary for the purpose of pole loading, permitting, design planning, and/or drafting.
Job Duties:
- Install and setup various types of equipment, such as computer systems, networking devices, telecommunications devices, or machinery
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on equipment to ensure proper functionality and prevent issues, to include diagnose and troubleshoot problems, repair or replace defective parts
- Provide technical assistance to customers or end users by responding to inquiries, address concerns, and guide users in resolving technical problems either remote or on-site
- Travel to customer locations to perform site visits, inspections, or audits while assessing equipment performance, identify potential issues and make recommendations for improvement
- Maintain accurate records of their activities, to include service calls, repairs, and maintenance performed
- Document reports on equipment status, issues encountered, and solutions implemented
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while working on-site while ensuring all installations and repairs comply with relevant industry standards and guidelines
- Conduct tests and calibrations on equipment to ensure accuracy and precision
- Collaborate with colleagues, such as technical support teams, engineers, or supervisors to communicate updates, share information, and seek assistance or guidance where needed
- Manage inventory levels of spare parts, tools, or equipment needed for repairs or installations
- Collects accurate and complete data for permits, easements, and right of ways in a timely manner
- Able to identify most pole attachments
- Interpret and understand field sheet notes, schematics, maps, and drawings
- Produce routine and project specific correspondence in a neat, timely, and legible manner
- Track time spent on jobs, the mileage and materials needed to perform duties
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of previous experience in telecommunications and/or electrical utilities
