Senior Director of Security and Emergency Management

A leading research facility is seeking a Senior Director of Security and Emergency Management to lead and implement comprehensive security strategies across a large-scale, multi-site operation. This is a high-impact role requiring an experienced leader to oversee physical security, cybersecurity, emergency management, and protective services. Hire Type: Direct Hire

Salary: $250K - $300K (based on experience)

What You’ll Do

• Develop and implement security and emergency management strategies to protect personnel, facilities, and assets.
• Lead a team of 100 security professionals across multiple locations, ensuring a proactive and responsive security culture.
• Manage multimillion-dollar security and emergency preparedness budgets, optimizing resource allocation and efficiency.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including law enforcement and government agencies, to enhance security measures.
• Oversee site access security, cybersecurity, emergency management, and personnel security operations.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to security and emergency response.
• Provide high-level strategic guidance and risk mitigation plans to senior leadership.
• Lead crisis response initiatives and develop training programs for emergency preparedness.
• Travel occasionally to a South Dakota facility to oversee security operations and ensure alignment with organizational standards.

What We’re Looking For

• Extensive experience in physical security and emergency management, preferably within a large-scale industrial, research, or government setting.
• Strong background in managing cybersecurity, site security, and emergency response programs.
• Proven ability to set and implement security strategies aligned with organizational goals.
• Experience managing large teams (100 reports) and working cross-functionally with executive leadership.
• Strong budget management skills with experience overseeing multimillion-dollar security programs.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a high-level security clearance (preferred but not required).
• Willingness to be 100% on-site and travel as needed.
