Chief Human Resources Officer CHRO
Pavement Preservation Group, Inc. (PPG) is a leading provider of pavement preservation contracting services to public and private customers.
Position Summary:
As a key member of the Executive team, the CHRO will report to the CEO and assume an operational and strategic role in the management of the Company. With responsibility for developing and executing human resource strategy in support of the overall business plan and long-term strategic direction of the company. The CHRO will provide strategic leadership in areas such as talent management, organizational development, performance management, total compensation, diversity, employee engagement, and compliance. The role requires a professionally and personally well-rounded individual who can effectively partner with the corporate leadership teams as well as the field to steer the Companys strategic and tactical direction towards sustainable growth and success while fostering a strong company culture. The CHRO will work from PPGs metro Nashville Tennessee headquarters location.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the executive team(s) to define and drive the companys strategic goals and objectives through effective human resource strategies.
- Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO and other senior leaders on all matters related to people and organizational effectiveness.
- Lead efforts to build high-performing regional HR teams capable of executing the HR vision efficiently and effectively within a decentralized corporate structure.
- Ensure HR policies, procedures, and programs across the platform comply with all applicable laws and regulations. Mitigate organizational risk by proactively managing HR-related legal, ethical and compliance matters.
- Drive the adoption of HR technology systems to improve processes, streamline workflows and provide data-driven insights. Develop universal use of HR metrics and analytics to measure the effectiveness of programs and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure equitable compensation practices by overseeing competitive compensation and benefits programs that attract, motivate and retain top talent while maintaining cost efficiency and alignment with business goals.
- Lead the design and implementation of talent acquisition, retention, and succession planning strategies at all levels of the organization to ensure a high-performing workforce that promotes a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace.
- Lead organizations change efforts to support business transformation, mergers, acquisitions, or restructuring initiatives common to a high growth platform.
- Promote an agile, lean mindset that allows the organization to adapt quickly to changing market conditions and opportunities.
- Work with the CEO to develop and implement a communication strategy that delivers the company vision and fosters a culture of transparency and employee engagement on a routine basis.
- Manage the people strategy for mergers and acquisitions (M&A), overseeing all HR-related aspects of due diligence, and ensuring seamless integration processes. Assess cultural compatibility, identify organizational risks, and develop comprehensive plans to address workforce transitions, including talent retention, restructuring, and onboarding. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, to evaluate compensation structures, benefits, compliance matters, and employment contracts to mitigate risks and align policies. Post-acquisition, lead integration efforts by driving alignment on organizational design, facilitating change management initiatives, and fostering a cohesive culture across teams.
Critical Success Factors:
The CHRO will be responsible for and evaluated regarding their success in the following key areas:
- Ability to design and implement HR strategies that are fully aligned with the companys business objectives and long-term vision.
- Ability to provide insight as well as collaborate with the CEO and executive team on people strategies that support organizational growth, productivity and EBITDA improvements.
- Leverage HR analytics and technology on a daily, weekly, monthly basis to provide insights on workforce trends, employee engagement, retention and productivity.
- Implement HR technologies to streamline operations, improve efficiency, lower cost while enhancing the employee experience.
- Create a pipeline of leadership talent through succession planning and targeted development programs.
- Monitor industry trends and adopt practices that ensure the organizations offerings remain competitive and equitable.
Primary Qualifications:
- 15 years of progressive HR leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior/executive HR role.
- Experience working with private equity owned businesses and/or highly acquisitive businesses.
- Proven experience leading HR in a corporate large-scale, multi-state organization.
- Experience in implementing HR strategies across diverse geographies, cultures and heavy labor driven industries.
- A firm executive presence with the ability to influence and work effectively with all types of employees and executives, as well as companys capital partners and Board members.
- Undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration: Masters degree, MBA, SHRM-SCP, SPHR preferred.
