Full-timeSchedule Monday - Friday (on-call as needed)The GC Analyst runs and reports environmental samples to meet production and quality goals. The analyst is responsible for planning daily workflow, monitoring quality of procedures and proper technique, and communicating issues and needs to the Team lead.The GC Analyst will perform tasks according to Sterling Labs SOPs and protocols in a culture safe action honest and ethical behavior in all laboratory activities. The GC Analysts will perform specific duties assigned by the Organic Team Lead to ensure that client service requests are met. The GC Analyst must display motivation to see projects through to completion to meet client expectations.Primary dutiesGC Analysis : Pesticides Secondary dutiesGC Analysis : PCNs, Alcohols, Glycols, TPHBenchmarksComplete Training for PEST and PCBTasksManage sample workload to meet reporting deadlines.Upload and review results in Sterling Lab's LIMSQuantify and qualify results based on analytical method and SOP.Report accurate and on-time data in ELEMENT 7Calibrate instrumentation accurately according to SOPs.Build sequence and batch data to maximize instrument run efficiency.Perform daily and ongoing maintenance on instruments, including inlet maintenance, changing column, source cleaning, etc.Prepare standards and reagents.Make critical decisions about the quality of samples prior to analysis to protect instruments and meet client objectives.Assist other analysts and extractors in other lab areas as workflow requires, under direction of your supervisor.Maintain good housekeeping habits and assist with sample disposal.Communicate to the Team lead the status of the workload as well as any data quality issues.Assist supervisor in determining sources of problems and implementing corrective actions to resolve those issues.Other duties as assigned. Requirements BS / BA degree in chemistry or related fieldWorking knowledge of MS Office : Word, Excel and Access.Excellent verbal and communication skills.Self-directed, goal oriented.1-2 years of experience as a GC / HPLC analyst is preferred.Familiarity with Element 7 is preferred.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITIONMust be able to stand for long periods of timeMust be able to lift up to 25 pounds using correct and safe lifting techniquesMust be able to work in refrigerated storage areas for short periods of timeMust be able to wear all PPE required for the positionBENEFITS AND COMPENSATION At Sterling Labs we value our employees and recognize them as the driving force behind our success.
