POSITION OVERVIEW :

The Laboratory Technician- Wet Chem, specializing in Seal Methods is responsible for performing a wide range of laboratory tests and analyses to support environmental and product testing. This role follows established laboratory methods and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

SPECIFIC DUTIES OF THE ROLE :

Primary Test

Perform Seal SFA and Seal Discrete analyses : XRM, Chromium, Cyanide, Phenol, Orthophosphorus, Silica, Ammonia, TKN.

Secondary Tests

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

Set up, conduct, and document qualitative and quantitative analyses of waste, water, solids, and soil samples.

Prepare, digest, and analyze samples in alignment with lab SOPs.

Perform general wet chemistry department procedures, like preparation, calibration, distillation, and data reporting

Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.

Calibrate equipment before each use and generate control chart validation (CCV) reports with high spike levels.

Monitor process parameters, identify anomalies, and report results using the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS - Element 7).

Ensure product quality compliance with laboratory standards and specifications.

Complete laboratory documentation, including logbooks, maintenance books, standard books, and bench sheets.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment, adhering to SOP disposal procedures.

Track and manage necessary supplies for successful test runs.

Conduct routine hazard assessments of materials and identify potential risks with equipment or materials.

Perform other duties as assigned.

INSTRUMENTS :

Laboratory balances, pipettes, volumetric flasks, and graduated cylinders.

Requirements :

Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, chemistry, or biology.

Ability to learn and use laboratory information systems (LIMS), databases, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and draw conclusions.

High level of organization with attention to rules and patterns for analysis and equipment setup.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

Ability to stand for long periods of time.

Ability to lift up to 40 pounds using proper lifting techniques.

Ability to work in refrigerated storage areas for short periods.

Ability to wear all required PPE for the position.
