Position Overview:

Sterling Montessori is seeking a dedicated and experienced Children’s House Director to oversee and support our early childhood education program (ages 3-6). This leadership role requires a strong understanding of the Montessori philosophy, a passion for early childhood education, and the ability to guide and support teachers, students, and families in our Children’s House program. The Children’s House Director will work under the general direction of the Executive Director, ensuring a high-quality, developmentally appropriate learning environment that aligns with Montessori principles and state regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership, coaching, and professional development for Children’s House teachers and staff.
• Ensure the Montessori philosophy is upheld in all classrooms and provide support to teachers in maintaining an authentic Montessori environment.
• Monitor student progress and classroom environments, ensuring alignment with Montessori best practices and school expectations.
• Oversee classroom observations, teacher evaluations, and mentorship programs for new and existing faculty.
• Collaborate with families to support student development, address concerns, and foster strong home-school partnerships.
• Work closely with administration and other section directors to ensure a seamless transition from Children’s House to Lower Elementary.
• Maintain compliance with child care licensing and sanitation regulations, and Montessori accreditation standards.
• Support enrollment efforts, student assessments, and placement decisions for Children’s House students.
• Participate in school-wide events, professional development, and community engagement initiatives.

Qualifications:

Required:

• AMS or AMI Montessori Certification in Early Childhood (ages 3-6).
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development, or a related field.
• Minimum of five years of teaching experience in a Montessori early childhood environment.
• Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Passion for early childhood education and a deep understanding of child development.

Preferred:

• North Carolina Teaching License or eligibility to obtain one
• Master’s degree in Education, Administration, or a related field.
• Previous experience in an administrative or leadership role within a Montessori school.
• Experience working in a public or charter Montessori setting.
