What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Worker/RV Technician Needed ASAP! position at Sterling RV Services?
Hello! I'm Andy, owner/operator of Sterling RV Services, and I'm hiring a team of uniquely skilled people to fix RVs.
How to Apply
Please respond on really. Please include the following:
- Resume (download or really version)
- Cover letter (must explain why you're considering this position!)
- 2-5 professional references
What You'll Do
This is a hands-on position for RV (Recreational Vehicle) construction and repair. If you have experience in residential construction, mechanical repair, plumbing, HVAC, or other trade, you'll fit right in!
You'll work as a member of a small crew (2-5 people). Most of the work is indoors, but outdoor work/travel is possible up to 25%. The position requires experience with power tools and basic carpentry. You'll often be working on an RV roof, scaffolding, or ladder.
Unlike most other RV technician jobs, this one isn't a jack-of-all-trades position. You won't be asked to diagnose electro-mechanical systems or conduct PDI inspections, for instance. I'm looking for people who love to work with their hands and think on their feet!
In addition to the construction labor, you'll help keep track of parts and materials used, ensure the final product meets our quality standards, and maintain a safe and clean work area.
It's a fun, demanding, well-paying job where every day is a bit different than the last.
Introduction to the Company
Sterling RV Services LLC was founded in spring 2023. In the past two years, we've become one of the premier mobile RV services in the Laurel Highlands region of Pennsylvania. We have a 5-star reputation, and we receive more calls than we can handle. Now we're expanding into a shop, and we need good people!
If you've worked for other RV dealerships or service centers, let me promise you: We're not the same. I built my business on treating people fairly, and I'll do the same for you.
Experience and Education Requirements
I hire based on aptitude and attitude. If you're smart, dedicated, hard-working, and teachable, you'll go far.
Being an RVTIA- or RVTAA-certified technician is a plus, but is not required. High school diploma or GED is required.
I don't care if you're "over-qualified." I have a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering myself, so I welcome other engineers and "white-collar" professionals looking for a change of pace.
Other Requirements
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to lift 50-75 lbs
- Work well with a team
- Track parts and materials used in processes
- Prolonged periods of standing, bending, kneeling, etc.
- Exposure to heights and hazards
- Punctual and reliable
- Able to think for yourself
Pay Range and Benefits
- Full-time and part-time employed positions available
- Subcontractor positions available
- Very competitive pay!
Full-time, part-time, and subcontractor positions are available. I'm open to semi-retired individuals, new graduates, and anyone in between. I don't discriminate based on age/gender/color/etc. - I care about performance, and performance only.
Generally, I pay piece-rate, meaning that you'll take a certain cut of any job. The better/faster you are, the more money you'll make! For most employees, you can expect to make the equivalent of $20-$50/hr, with any reasonably competent employee earning $30/hr equivalent.
Unfortunately, as a small business owner, I am not yet feasibly able to provide health insurance. However, I do offer 5 days PTO (eligible after 180 days). For this reason, I set my piece-rate percentages above the industry average; I want you to make good money!
Thankfully, I am able to provide a flexible work schedule. The work is slightly seasonal, with increased demand in the summer and reduced demand in the winter. I understand you have a life outside of work, so I offer as much day-to-day flexibility as I can. If you like to travel, I offer lots of unpaid time off. In this job, you make what you earn.
This business is growing, and I need good people like you. Let's talk!
