Thisposition will report to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and will serve as anintegral member of the senior leadership team which includes the CEO, CFO, andCPO. The CDO will work closely with an impressive board of directors, each ofwhom give generously and all of whom are all committed to a shared vision ofgrowth for Illumination Foundation and a deeper impact for those they serve.

About Illumination Foundation

IlluminationFoundation serves over 6,500 individuals and families daily with integrated housing and healthcareservices. Its programs serve themost vulnerable homeless individuals, including families and children, inOrange County, Los Angeles County and the Inland Empire. They work with clientsin all of their programs to ensure they receive the wrap around services needed tocontinue on a path to stability and permanent housing. Illumination Foundation's Recuperative Care Centers provide recovery and stabilizationfor medically vulnerable individuals exiting hospitals and experiencinghomelessness. They also provide emergency housing and micro-communities combinedwith comprehensive wraparound services such as case management and counseling for long-termhousing opportunities and a connection to permanent housing. With a series offull circle care programs addressing the immediate needs of the unhoused, theirall-encompassing approach considers all aspects of a client's well-being. Theseresources empower, heal and inspire change on the path to permanent housing. IlluminationFoundation's comprehensive care helps clients regain stability and confidence,fostering long-term growth and the opportunity to truly thrive.

The Opportunity

Illumination Foundation is an era of rapidgrowth, having expanded its budget in the past year alone from a $50Morganization to a $70M organization. It is the largest provider of services tohomeless families in Orange County, administers the largest recuperative careprogram in the nation and ranks as one of the top ten largest nonprofits inOrange County. Illumination Foundation has a very well respected, nationalbrand and is considered a content expert on the issue of homelessness, havingpublished numerous white papers and presented at national conferences. The CEO sitson the Board of Directors for the National Health Care for the Homeless Council,an organization she has belonged to since 2002.

The CDO will beresponsible for implementing a comprehensive, strategic fundraising plan toposition Illumination Foundation for continued growth. This includes stewardingexisting donors and maintaining current philanthropic funding, as well asengaging new donors from individuals, corporations, foundations, and throughspecial events such as Illumination Foundation's signature event, Chef's Table, whichgenerates approximately $1.5 million annually. Currently, philanthropic revenueconsists of $1.35M from individual giving, $2.4M from special events (whichincludes the $1.5M from Chef's Table), and $1.75M from foundation and corporatesupport. The CDO will be charged with building upon Illumination Foundation'strack record of success by leading the organization's development andcommunications function and achieving its goals for continued financialstability and community engagement. This is an ideal role for a seasoned,entrepreneurial, collaborative, and high-performing development / communicationsprofessional who can contribute to and is passionate about this mission, andlead others to engage both internal and external stakeholders to support it.The CDO has a current team of 6 FTE's with 6 direct reports. The opportunityexists to add up to 3 FTEs to restructure / rebuild the development andcommunications team in order to meet the strategic goals of the department.

The CDOwill partner with Illumination Foundation's visionary CEO, Dr. Pooja Bhalla. Herinnovative work includes the creation of IFMG, a private medical group whichprovides onsite medical and mental health services for Illumination Foundationclients; partnering with CHOC to provide primary care and behavioral healthcounseling to children experiencing homelessness; expanding IlluminationFoundation's recuperative care program, including creating a female-onlyrecuperative care facility; and spearheading the development of an electronichealth record system which uses clinical data and machine learning to generatediagnostic risk scores that can be used to tailor the level of servicesprovided to client needs.

In partnershipwith Dr. Bhalla, the new CDO will place their stamp not only on the growth of fund development and communications' reach, but also on IlluminationFoundation's continuing mission to disrupt the cycle of homelessness. The newCDO will have a demonstrated track record of institutional vision andleadership, with an emphasis on mentoring staff and establishing and overseeingefficient organizational systems, measurable fundraising / communications goals, financialforecasting, and fundraising / communications strategies.

Position Overview : The Chief Development Officer (CDO) will beresponsible for leading and overseeing the organization's fundraising strategy,donor engagement, and resource development efforts. The CDO will work closelywith the CEO, Board of Directors, and senior leadership to design and implementa comprehensive development strategy that ensures financial sustainability andenhances philanthropic support. This position requires a dynamic, visionaryleader with a proven track record of building relationships, cultivatingdonors, and growing fundraising programs.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership

Provide innovative, visionary, and strategicoperational planning and leadership for all development and communicationsactivities. Serve as an active and collaborative member of its leadership team.
Ensurethat the development and communications department is effectively structuredand staffed with high-performing employees. Invest in professional developmentactivities to continually develop and train staff; develop and implementmeasurable goals for each team member and hold them accountable for meetingfundraising and communications goals.
Facilitatea culture of collaboration between development, communications, marketing, andother departments, and develop a deep understanding of IlluminationFoundation's programs and services.
Be a passionate,visible, and informed leader and advocate for Illumination Foundation and engage with the broader community while positioning Illumination Foundation forimproved fundraising and visibility.

Planning and Management

Recruit, hire, support, train, coach, assess, andsupervise fundraising and communications' staff. Provide career developmentopportunities for all fundraising and communications staff with specificattention paid to the identification and development of future leaders.

Create, manage, and monitorthe annual development and marketing program budgets in partnership with the CEO and / or CFO and provide periodicprogress reports.

Lead,manage and direct the annual private (not including government grants) funding / revenuebase while focusing on a comprehensive fund development plan to enhance theshort- and long-term diversified funding base.

Overseeperformance measures, monitor results, and help the CEO evaluate theeffectiveness of the organization's fund development and marketing / communicationsprogram.

Lead and manage Illumination Foundation's ConstituentRelationship Management (CRM) system (Bloomerang). Oversee policies and procedures for accepting gifts, enteringdata, tracking moves management, monitoring stewardship activities and providingreports as needed.

Collaborateclosely with the finance department to ensure sound fiscal operation of thedevelopment and communications functions including timely, accurate andcomprehensive development of charitable contributions income and expensebudgets, reporting, monitoring, and implementation.

Ensurecompliance with all relevant regulations and laws, maintain accountabilitystandards to donors, and ensure compliance with code of ethical principles andstandards of professional conduct for fundraising executives.

Development & Stewardship

Strategicallyand significantly expand the existing development program focusing ondiversifying revenue sources while developing and stewarding donorrelationships to increase the base of support from current and potentialdonors.

Providefundraising leadership, strategy and support to the CEO, Development Committee andBoard of Directors.

Oversee allprocesses and procedures related to prospectidentification, donor relations, engagement, stewardship activities, andcontributions management.

Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of high-end donors from a diversegroup of individuals, corporations,and foundations.

Continuouslymonitor donor retention and craft a plan to increase the retention rate withestablished methods to achieve consistent and accurate measurements.

Communications

Design andoversee a communications and marketing plan to create awareness of IlluminationFoundation's mission, vision, and goals.

Increase theagency's visibility and presence in the philanthropic community to establishand advance relationships in support of achieving the agency's vision andmission.

Monitorbranding guidelines, ensuring that Illumination Foundation's brand is messaged clearlyand consistently throughout the organization. Ensure that development,marketing materials, and all related activities are unified and consistent withthe Illumination Foundation's brand.

Actas primary liaison to an external Public Relations firm, ensuring consistencyfor all messaging across platforms.

Qualifications

Sevenyears of experience in a senior level fundraising or sales and communicationsleadership role with experience managing staff, planning, budgeting, and fiscalmanagement.

Ademonstrated ability to plan and operate strategically, to build publicsupport, to strengthen infrastructure and to inspire staff and the Board ofDirectors.

Astrong interpersonal and communication skill set and demonstrated ability towork effectively with and gain the respect and support of varied and changingconstituencies, including clients, staff, Board members, potential donors,volunteers, community leaders and others.

Successful track record in fundraising andacquiring gifts at the five and six figure level or respective sales orbusiness development experience.

Demonstrated ability to build deep, productiverelationships and strongly influence internal and external stakeholders at alllevels.

Demonstrated ability to enhance communityengagement and strengthen the visibility, purpose, and case for support for IlluminationFoundation.

Highly competent in strategic and multi-yearplanning.

Strong organizational and time management skillswith exceptional attention to detail.

Excellent oral and writtencommunication / presentation skills.

Compensation

Salary of $175,000 to $200,000 plus a competitivebenefits package will be offered to attract an outstanding candidate.
