Operate, maintain, and conduct minor repairs of heavy equipment including, but not limited to, end-loaders, excavators, and skid steers used in the land clearing, access mat handling, and a variety of other civil work. All work to be completed in a safe and efficient manner.

Position Summary

Essential Functions
- Consistently demonstrate commitment and support for the Sterling vision, mission, policies, and procedures.
- Pursue Continuous Improvement activities to ensure efficiency and effectiveness within area of responsibility.
- Assume other responsibilities and complete tasks as assigned to meet the on-going needs of the organization.
- Inspect heavy equipment to identify potential defects and issues.
- Identify and communicate issues regarding equipment to supervisor.
- Operating heavy equipment including loading & unloading trucks, access mat handling, land clearing and other related work required for construction access.
- Monitor working conditions for issues associated with equipment.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and environmentally responsible workplace.
- Communicate with onsite contacts regarding necessary project information.
- Communicate changes in conditions or scope to Foreman prior to commencing additional work.
- Promptly recognize hazards or risk, STOP WORK, and notify Supervisor.
- Promptly report incidents / accidents to supervisor and act to minimize impact when appropriate.
- Perform and report daily equipment maintenance including cleaning, greasing, and fluid levels.
- Support the work of others by undertaking tasks such as loading/unloading equipment, flagging, spotting, etc.
- All other duties and projects as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Must possess valid Driver's License.
- Obtain Operator Qualification within (30) days of hire.
- Obtain Sterling Operator Certification with (18) months of hire.
- OSHA 10 Certification preferred, but will train
- CPR / First Aid Certification preferred, but will train
- Must possess a clean MVR driving record.
- Additional safety training will be required per customer requirements.

- Up to 95% travel. Includes driving in all kinds of weather, traffic, and road conditions.
- Work in an outdoor environment with exposure to the typical elements of all seasons.
- Required to work overtime or weekends as defined by the needs of the department.

- Up to 33% of the time, transport from floor to waist and push/pull up to 35 pounds distances of up to 10 feet or move up to 100 pounds.
- Up to 33% use fine motor skills with dexterity and firm grip to operate hand and power tools and machinery.
- Up to 33% ascend or descend a ladder or work atop a platform.
- Up to 66% traverse the production floor, outside as needed, position self to operate tools and machinery, maintain stationary position in the performance of work.
- Up to 100% communicate information to teammates in a manner that is understandable, exchange accurate information, and interpret the information communicated.
