Position Summary
This position plays an integral role in the daily functions within the Human Resources Department and will have responsibility for key areas of assignments and will also cross-functionally train to provide support across the department including, but not limited to; recruiting, onboarding, benefits, and payroll.
Essential Functions
- Maintain knowledge and understanding of employment regulations with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Perform data entry into all systems and platforms for new hires, terminations, wage adjustments (promotions, transfers, merit, market adjustments), address updates (W-4 process), direct deposits and save records accordingly.
- Review job requisitions and meet with the hiring manager to complete the intake questionnaire.
- Manage partnerships with staffing agencies, update all records and systems for the temporary workforce.
- Monitor temporary workforce length of service, recommend and process temp-to-hire conversions.
- Post open job positions, review resumes, pre-screen candidates and make recommendations to managers.
- Prepare employment offer letters, transfer and promotional letters, draft job descriptions and present to employees.
- Initiate background check processes, monitor and ensure they are consistent with Company policy.
- Manage new hire orientation and onboarding processes - develop onboarding agendas.
- Crosstrain on benefits administration, and annual open enrollment processes.
- Assist managers with employee relations issues, investigations, disciplinary actions, and termination discussions when requested working alongside HR Generalist II and HR Director.
- Manage full life cycle events for employees and temporary workers including termination processes in all systems.
- Monitors and maintains HRIS and other platforms for accuracy, complete audits quarterly and at year end/start.
- Participates in the annual benefits open enrollment processes, ensures deduction codes and rates are updated.
- Complete verifications of employment and confirm wage earnings when requested or required.
- Timely responds to all inquiries from employees, managers, and external agencies.
- Consistently demonstrate commitment and support for the Sterling vision, mission, policies and procedures.
- Foster a culture of innovation, teamwork, customer-centricity, and compliance.
- Cultivate strong partnerships with cross-functional teams to support departmental needs and overall business goals.
- Cross train within the team, and across other departments, to provide backup support throughout the department.
- All other duties and projects assigned.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business or other relevant formal education is preferred.
- Current PHR, SHRM-CP is strongly preferred.
- At least 3 years of progressive human resources experience is required, within a similar environment and position.
- Knowledge of HRIS platforms is required, ADP Workforce Now strongly preferred.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office 365 products including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Meticulous attention to detail, with a tenacity for reconciliation processes is required.
- Strong analytical skills with ability to deliver high quantity work that is consistently accurate and timely.
- Capable of managing tight timelines, working long hours and holidays as needed to process payroll.
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written is required. Bi-lingual in Spanish preferred.
