Position Summary
The Production Labor I role is key to supporting installation, finishing, and basic carpentry processes in a fast-paced and dynamic production environment. Primary responsibilities include slope shield and panel shield installation, sanding, applying protective finishes, and performing other basic carpentry tasks. Individuals in this role must demonstrate attention to detail, adaptability, and a commitment to producing high-quality, wood-based products. The ability to shift between tasks and contribute to multiple stages of production is essential to maintaining efficiency and quality standards of the team. Essential Functions
- Assist in the installation of slope shields, panel shields, and lifting pins, ensuring components are properly aligned and secured according to specifications.
- Operate sanding equipment to smooth surfaces and prepare products for further processing or finishing (orbital and floor sanders).
- Apply protective coatings to wood products following precise application techniques to meet quality and durability standards.
- Perform proper doweling and cutting techniques in a safe and efficient manner.
- Repair fleet mats and perform other basic product modifications.
- Prepare products for shipment by packaging and labeling them to ensure they are ready for delivery.
- Adapt to the evolving needs of the production floor, taking on new tasks related to installation, finishing, and carpentry as required.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Follow safety protocols and complete required safety training upon hiring.
- Ability to follow technical instructions for installation, finishing, and carpentry processes.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality results.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Basic understanding of tools and equipment used for installation, finishing, and carpentry (training provided as necessary).
- Adaptability and willingness to handle multiple tasks in a production environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs.
- Previous experience with installation, finishing, or carpentry processes is a plus, but not required.
- Completion of company-provided safety training upon hire.
