Our new ambulatory surgery center is seeking a detail-oriented, experienced, and organized Surgery Scheduler/Receptionist/Insurance Verifier for this exciting opportunity.
The candidate we are seeking is energetic, positive and has mastered multitasking and customer service. Your role will involve interacting with medical staff, patients, and insurance providers to ensure smooth and efficient scheduling processes.
Responsibilities:
- Greets all who enter building in a positive manner, provides direction, information, and other assistance as needed
Schedule surgical procedures, ensuring that all necessary information is collected and documented accurately
- Coordinate with medical staff and offices to determine availability and schedule surgeries accordingly
- Answers phone in a pleasant manner and deals with physician offices and patient needs expeditiously. Takes messages and records in message book. Transfers calls to other departments
- Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations for surgical procedures
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in electronic medical systems SIS
- Collaborate with other administrative staff to ensure efficient workflow within the surgical department
- Assist with administrative clerical tasks such as filing, data entry, photocopying forms, reports, patient information, mailing surveys, preparing patient charts, faxing forms and retrieving faxes
Requirements:
- Minimum of 1-year experience in insurance verification & obtaining authorizations
- Minimum of 1-year experience in surgery scheduling
- Familiarity with medical terminology and procedures related to surgery
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations calmly
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting
- Knowledge of patient service principles and practices
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Flexibility with work schedule required
