Job Summary
The Dialysis RN will provide comprehensive care to patients undergoing dialysis treatment, ensuring the highest quality of care in both inpatient and outpatient settings. This role requires clinical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining patient safety and comfort.
Duties
- Prepare and monitor patients before, during, and after dialysis treatments.
- Administer medications and manage dialysis equipment such as hemodialysis machines.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and respond promptly to changes in condition.
- Educate patients and families about dialysis care, treatment plans, and self-care techniques.
- Collaborate with physicians, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans.
- Document patient information accurately using electronic health record systems such as Epic or Meditech.
- Follow infection control protocols and maintain equipment according to established standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.
Experience
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in dialysis or nephrology nursing.
- Familiarity with both acute and chronic dialysis care is preferred.
Requirements
- Active ND RN license or compact state license.
- BLS certification (required), ACLS preferred.
- Experience with dialysis equipment and patient care technologies.
