Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled LPN Post acute LTC to join our healthcare team in Lewiston, ME 04240 for a 13 weeks contract. The ideal candidate will provide essential nursing care to patients in various settings, including acute care and nursing homes. This role requires a strong understanding of physiology and the ability to perform physical examinations, administer injections, and assist with procedures such as spinal taps. The LPN will work collaboratively with registered nurses and other healthcare professionals to ensure the highest quality of patient care.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including administering medications and injections as prescribed.
- Conduct physical examinations and monitor patient vital signs.
- Assist in various medical procedures, including spinal taps and laboratory tests.
- Maintain accurate patient records using electronic health record systems such as Epic.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Educate patients and their families on health management and disease prevention strategies.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and infection control measures.
- Lift and transport patients safely as needed, adhering to best practices for patient handling.
Experience
- Previous experience in a pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) or acute care setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures and equipment is a plus.
- Proven ability to perform physical examinations and administer injections competently.
- Experience working in nursing homes or similar long-term care facilities is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of human physiology and nursing best practices is essential.
