Position: Optometrist
Location & Schedule
- Avenal, CA: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM (One week per month)
- Soledad, CA: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM (30–60 days need)
- Represa, CA (FSP Facility): Tuesday to Thursday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (30-minute meal break)
- Coalinga, CA: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM (One week per month)
- Wasco, CA: One day a week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday), 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Pay Rate
$120 – $140 per hour (Dependent on experience and qualifications)
Orientation
- Hands-on training during the first week of work.
About the Role
We are seeking licensed Optometrists to join our team in correctional facilities across California. This is an opportunity to provide essential eye care services to patients in unique and structured healthcare settings. The role involves conducting comprehensive eye exams, managing vision-related health issues, and collaborating with multidisciplinary medical teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive eye exams, including refraction, visual acuity tests, and ocular health evaluations.
- Diagnose and manage ocular diseases such as glaucoma, cataracts, and diabetic retinopathy.
- Provide prescriptions for glasses and contact lenses as necessary.
- Collaborate with medical staff to address systemic conditions affecting ocular health, such as diabetes or hypertension.
- Educate patients on eye health, proper care, and treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in accordance with facility protocols.
Qualifications
- Required:
- Active California Optometry license.
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 2 years of optometric experience (preferred).
- Ability to work in a correctional facility and adapt to a structured healthcare environment.
- Preferred:
- Experience in correctional healthcare or underserved populations.
- Proficiency with optometric equipment, including autorefractors, slit lamps, and visual field analyzers.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
