About the Role
We are seeking an Interim Pharmacy Director for a 13-week contract in Bakersfield, CA. This leadership role requires overseeing pharmacy operations, regulatory compliance, and clinical programs while ensuring safe and effective medication management for patients. The ideal candidate will provide strategic direction, staff supervision, and operational excellence in a hospital or healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities
✔ Provide leadership and oversight for pharmacy services and staff.
✔ Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (State & Federal, Joint Commission, CMS).
✔ Develop and implement medication safety and quality assurance programs.
✔ Collaborate with medical staff, nurses, and hospital leadership to optimize pharmaceutical care.
✔ Manage budgeting, inventory, and procurement of pharmaceuticals.
✔ Oversee pharmacy policies, protocols, and staff development.
✔ Serve as a clinical expert in pharmacotherapy and medication management.
Required Certifications & Qualifications
✅ Active California Pharmacist License.
✅ Minimum of 3-5 years of pharmacy leadership experience in a healthcare setting.
✅ BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification - Required.
✅ Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) via BPS - Required.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
✔ Experience in hospital or acute care pharmacy leadership.
✔ Strong strategic planning, budgeting, and operational management skills.
✔ Knowledge of clinical pharmacy programs and regulatory compliance.
