Job Overview
We are seeking a Hospital Pharmacy Director to join our leadership team. This key role involves overseeing all pharmacy-related activities and personnel, ensuring compliance with hospital and regulatory standards. The Pharmacy Director will have responsibility for the management of new programs and operational success within the department.

Salary: ~ $155,000/year (dependent on experience)
Bonus: $10,000 Sign-On/Retention Bonus (paid annually over 3 years)
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision: Direct and supervise all pharmacy activities, including inpatient and outpatient pharmacy services. Oversee staff performance, training, and development.
- Planning & Budgeting: Develop and recommend annual budgets, capital expenditures, and financial planning for the pharmacy department.
- Policy Development: Create and maintain policies and procedures for pharmacy operations and medication administration. Ensure compliance with DNV, Department of Public Health Regulations, and hospital formulary.
- Quality & Safety: Ensure safe and effective pharmacy services for patients and staff, with a focus on quality assurance and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Inventory Management: Oversee procurement and inventory management of pharmaceuticals, ensuring efficient medication distribution across the hospital.
- Clinical Leadership: Lead clinical pharmacy programs, including unit dose, decentralized services, and IV admixture programs. Provide clinical leadership for patient care programs.
- Team Coordination: Collaborate with the healthcare team and other hospital departments to ensure smooth pharmacy operations. Lead staff communication and foster positive team dynamics.
- Administrative: Participate in meetings, prepare payroll reports, manage schedules, and track performance.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, MS or PharmD (required).
- Licensure: Licensed as a Pharmacist in Michigan or license obtained before the start date (required).
- Experience: hospital pharmacy setting (required).
- 340B Program Knowledge: Strong knowledge of the 340B Program (please specify in your resume where applicable).
- Technical Skills: Proficient with Word, Excel, and EMR (EPIC) (required).
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills, with a focus on team building and positive staff relations.
Duties
- Oversee daily pharmacy operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
- Develop and implement clinical pharmacy programs that enhance patient care, including pain management and medication administration protocols.
- Lead the pharmacy team in providing pharmaceutical care, including medication therapy management for acute care patients.
- Collaborate with medical staff to optimize medication use, conduct rounds, and participate in interdisciplinary team meetings.
- Ensure the proper application of aseptic technique in sterile compounding processes.
- Manage formulary decisions and medication procurement to ensure cost-effective practices.
- Provide education and training to pharmacy staff, residents, and other healthcare professionals on clinical pharmacy practices.
- Monitor patient outcomes related to medication therapy and implement quality improvement initiatives as needed.
