About the Role
We are seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week contract in a Burn ICU Unit in Bakersfield, CA, 93301 . This position offers a rewarding opportunity to provide essential patient care in a behavioral health setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Monitoring and Assessment: Continuously assess and monitor burn patients' vital signs, pain levels, and skin integrity. This includes tracking oxygen levels, heart rate, blood pressure, and neurological status, ensuring timely interventions when needed.
- Wound Care Management: Perform wound care procedures such as cleaning, dressing changes, and applying topical treatments to burn injuries. RNs also help manage infection prevention strategies and monitor for signs of sepsis or other complications.
- Pain Management: Administer prescribed medications and pain relief interventions. RNs must be skilled in recognizing and addressing varying levels of pain, ensuring patients are as comfortable as possible while supporting their recovery.
- Collaboration with Multidisciplinary Team: Work closely with doctors, respiratory therapists, physical therapists, dietitians, and other specialists to provide comprehensive care for burn patients. Effective communication ensures that all aspects of the patient's care plan are addressed.
- Patient and Family Education: Provide emotional support and education to both the burn patient and their family members. This includes teaching about burn care, recovery processes, long-term rehabilitation, and mental health support, especially for those dealing with traumatic experiences.
Qualifications Required:
✅ Active and unrestricted CA RN License.
✅ Minimum of 2 years of RN experience (Burn ICU experience preferred).
✅ Current BLS certification.
