Key Responsibilities
✔ Most nurses begin their ICU career after gaining general nursing experience in other units (like med-surg or emergency care).
✔ ICU nurses may pursue certifications like the Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification, which demonstrates advanced knowledge and skills in critical care nursing
✔Nurses in the ICU typically work long shifts, often 12 hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as hospitals operate around the clock.
✔ The ICU is fast-paced and emotionally taxing. Nurses often handle multiple critically ill patients simultaneously, so the ability to remain calm and make decisions quickly is essential.
✔ ICU nurses often care for patients in critical conditions, and sometimes they face life-or-death situations. Being emotionally resilient and calm under pressure is essential.
Qualifications Required:
✅ Active and unrestricted AZ RN License.
✅ Minimum of 2 years of RN experience (ICU experience preferred).
✅ Current BLS certification.
