Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled RN Med Surg to join our team in Lufkin, TX, 75904 for a 13 Week contract. As a Registered Nurse (RN) on our Med/Surg Telemetry Unit, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional care to patients with common diagnoses such as Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), Diabetes, Pneumonia (PNA), Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), and other Med/Surg Telemetry needs. You will work closely with a collaborative team that includes Charge Nurses, House Supervisors, Nurse Educators, and Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) to provide the best patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide patient-centered care to 24-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 6:1.
- Monitor and interpret telemetry strips; RN's are required to be proficient in reading strips (Telemonitor Techs will monitor patients, but RNs must interpret the strips).
- Administer medications, treatments, and provide ongoing assessments and interventions for patients with conditions like CHF, Diabetes, PNA, CKD, etc.
- Work alongside a team of Nurse Aides (PCTs) with a 12:1 ratio for support and assistance.
- Assist with the management of CPAP, BiPAP, and High Flow oxygen patients.
- Coordinate care with the interdisciplinary team, including physicians, respiratory therapists, and social workers.
- Maintain excellent communication with patients and their families regarding care plans, progress, and discharge.
- Ensure patient safety and comfort while adhering to all hospital policies and procedures.
- Float to other Med/Surg units as needed, providing care for a wide variety of patients.
Required Qualifications:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of [State].
- Excellent communication skills and time management abilities.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and prioritize patient care needs.
- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to assess and respond to changes in patient condition.
- Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a Med/Surg Telemetry setting is a plus.
- BLS and ACLS certifications preferred but not required upon hire (hospital will provide).
- Familiarity with CPAP, BiPAP, and High Flow therapy.
